As of today, June 4, the Pacifica Pier is closed due to new cracks in its pilings. This may be the end of the pier.

The pier has been in shambles since before they closed off the L. A lot of memories on that pier. Sad to see it go. I doubt the city/state will take the plunge to have it repaired or replaced. Wish I had vivid photos of the time I spent on the pier instead of fuzzy memories.

It seems anything recreational is bottom of the barrel priority now. Some kind of converted PWC is looking more and more
the way to go rather than just something nice. I'd say the SeaDoo FishPro PWC would be nice but the price tag is just... *cringe*

Yeah, gone, but not forgotten Ken. I have quite a few memories from Pacifica. No pictures, but the memories are vivid. This is the time of year I would start fishing (right when the crab season was finishing up). I started fishing there in the late 80’s when my SFSU old roommates from the dorms told me about the pier. They had moved to a house they were renting in Pacifica. Ken, this is when I was in my 20’s and would get there at 4:30am and settle myself on the bench on the corner of Little Manila (I never fished International). Never got a salmon on the trolley rig because I was using Sea Wave bag bait when I should have used tray or cured my own. Saw a great white at the surface the 1 time my brother came out there with me (took as 9# salmon off someone’s line up to the head that was still breathing on the line when he reeled it in.)
