My opinion is that the city is purposely dragging their feet on fixing these piers to purposely depress and drive the businesses around them out so they can buy up the properties. This is not a farfetched idea since I recall a local politician bragging about how cheap they got a hotel property for and that it wouldn't have been possible without the pandemic. People can drink the koolaid if they want to but I think all the reasons they are giving is BS. Those businesses need to team up and find out which developers are lining the politicians pockets.

How much can they make with a fishing pier vs profits from properties. They just want to divert money to other projects such as affordable housing and homeless programs, a fishing pier is probably last on their list. We as fishermen are a dying breed, unless we all become homeless then maybe we have a chance
