Had opportunity to fish the pier Thursday morning. Caught and released several short Sand and Calico bass using frozen anchovy. Caught a live anchovy on sabiki rig, put it on a Carolina rig set-up hoping for a halibut. Got bit right away, pulled up a short sand bass! Lots of mackeral and jacksmelt too.
Other fish caught by anglers was a short California Scorpionfish aka Sculpin, a White Sea Bass, about 24 inches, it was released. And two large spotfin croakers at the midway point of pier. One croaker was about 4lbs. The morning highlight was a Thresher shark landed by shark fisherman. From nose to tail it was about 7 ft. Overall a nice day on the pier.
