I just learned that the City of San Diego is considering closing the new Ocean Beach Pier at night when built. I don't know what houirs they are considering but this comes from the lifeguards. Your thoughts?

Any decision impacting the use of a public resource should go through administrative due process. I.E. Public hearings that allow for input from all stakeholders. Arguments pro and con for restricted hours can be vetted through the public hearing process.

I think the city will do what it will do. While we may want it to be open, I seriously doubt that WE are the reasons it's being considered for closure at night... Well, the people on this board at least. Some of the late-night "fishers" I've encountered make me understand why it may be considered.

Most people who fish at night are peaceful and cause no problem, however you have homeless population and crazy individuals out there causing this to be an issue.
Yeah. The "fishers" I was referring to usually were not there to fish... They used fishing as an excuse to hang out on the pier and,
essentially, just be 4$$h0!35 and vandals.
