Another beautiful morning at the pier. Sunny and warm. No wind. Fish bite was steady but, slow. Kind of typical for the season.

Managed to catch and release the following:

3 Thornback Rays.
1 Roundray.
1 Sandbass.
1 Scorpionfish (Thank you Ken and Hooked Up for ID of fish)
2 Jacksmelt.
3 Topsmelt (Used for bait)

Caught the fish using anchovy, squid, and shrimp on a high/low setup. The Scorpionfish hit a whole anchovy on a fish finder setup.

A fisherman at the surfzone was catching Yellowfin croaker on mussel.

Good luck everyone!

That is definitely on you need to be able to identify.

Steve
Only an issue if you keep a fish you can't ID... Myself, I generally follow the principle of releasing anything
I can't positively ID. This most frequently happens to me with small flatfish... ie sanddab, sole,
or other small flatfish that MIGHT be confused for a baby flounder or halibut.
