Stopped by the Morro Bay North T-Pier the other day to see what changes have taken place recently. The good news was that most of the pier was open with few boats tied to it which opened up fishing areas. I was glad to see the small pier open given it ranks FIRST among all of the state's piers (in my personal records) as far as fish per hour 16.4 and points per hour at 28.7. Why so high? Due mainly to visits where I've run into schooling species like mackerel, sardines, jack mackerel, jacksmelt and (at one time) small bocaccio. Included in my total counts were five different species of perch and five different species of rockfish. The pier is also a noted pier for huge bat rays and leopard sharks.

There were only a couple of anglers on the pier. Both from Fresno.
