Japanese style grilled smoked mackerel

When you say Japanes-style what do you mean?

I can't speak for MiserT, but my first experience with Japanese style grilled smoked mackerel was at a
Japanese supermarket (Yaohan) back in the mid 90s in LA's little Tokyo that I got in a food court
bento-box. Was some mackerel on a bed of white rice. It had a smoky flavor. The fish was missing the
head and butterflied then grilled on skewers. It had grill marks and had been scored. It was seasoned
with salt and had a wonderful smoky flavor and a flaky texture.

I need to get out to Redondo pier again soon... For much the same reason... although that link you posted it works out to about
$13.50/lb... That's almost round trip gas money to the pier for me.
