Low profile baitcaster use in the salt is not for novices or those that have no interest in completely disassembling/cleaning/reassembling their reels on a semi regular basis. Almost all the time it will involve replacing parts at some point, especially bearings.
That being said, the Daiwa lexa is a tank and can handle the most neglect before completely ceasing up from salt corrosion. Shimanos are nice and refined, but need the most attention in my experience.
Good practice after every session is to wipe down the reel with a damp cloth. Do not rinse the reel under water, as that just flushes salt deeper into the reel and accelerates the corrosion process. Remove the spool, take a q tip and rubbing alcohol and clean the spool shaft, race, and inside the pinion gear. ONE drop of oil into the bearings, and air out over night. There is a good video on the Shimano site that covers this.
Good luck.
