Lompoc over Memorial Day

I'm staying in Lompoc over Memorial Day to hopefully hit up Gaviota and pretty much anywhere else within driving distance. Maybe make
the drive up to Pismo. Anyone in/from the area interested in wetting a line or offering some local advice?

Thanks!

The Gaviota Pier is still closed.
Yeah but the beach is open. :)

Generally, unless I'm using a sabiki, I spend more time going up and down the shore than on a pier.
I may visit Pismo or Avila. Maybe Port San Luis pier? I only recently realized that one is there. Driving up Friday
after work so will have most of the day Sat. before check-in to fish. Is Avila still open up to the end
area (but end area/baitshop/bathrooms closed)?

Port San Luis pier is open, however the fishing isn't very good. I would suggest you fish the beach area (or the main beach if you go early in the morning since there will be so many crowds during the weekend) by the boat launch area for perch or even a halibut or along the rocks there if you want to target rock fish. You can also get bait at the boat launch, good selection. The other pier is still closed. Enjoy!
