Just a guess, but it's likely the next piers to close will be Fort Point (Torpedo Wharf), and Fort Baker. The key factor seems to be access to parking. As long as there's plenty of parking nearby, those piers will draw anglers like a magnet.

Whereas the piers along the San Francisco Embarcadero may be spared for a time due to lack of parking in the area. Although one local fishermen told me that when he arrived at Pier 7 this morning, there were signs posted reminding fishermen to stay six feet apart.

As of yesterday, 3/26, Ventura State Beach is closed to vehicular traffic. Since the Ventura Pier parking lot is part of the state beach, this probably closes the pier for most fishermen. I have not found any notices about the pier itself.

Still can't figure out the logic rationals in some big brass officials' brains relating "a-lonely-soul-surf-fisherman-doing-his-solitude-things-alone-with his-fishing pole-on-a-beach"and the seemingly over-kill roaring sounds concerning the on-going Corona virus these days... Can you, anyone, fellow fishermen ???

The issue isn't the fisherman out on his own on the beach. It is the number of people who want to escape to the beach, and can't seem to maintain social distance. As usual, it is the behavior of a minority (though in this case a sizeable minority) that limits those that follow the less restrictive rules.

Just something to think about while not fishing .... I can't remember any worldwide events throughout centuries that has so much widespread ill effects upon the human race's well being like the current Corona Virus is doing to us. Let's see: World War I and II and other catastrophes did not shut down "fishing" on this USA, did they? Could you correct me, Folks? Could this current Corona occurrence be simply a 'reminder' to everyone that things in this world has been so badly screwed up and something has to be done before it's getting into a beyond-repair mode??? :(
