I used to fish occasionally at the small pier at Lawson's Landing in Tomales Bay. Unfortunately, I understand the pier is now gone. I used to catch a lot of jacksmelt there, a lot of herring in season, and quite a few sanddab. Halibut were in the area but I never got one there. It was a little hard to fish on the bottom because of the number of crabs and of course I got many of those on my line. I released them but looking back I probably should ave kept them.
