after several years, my surf king finally snapped just like what I've heard others report. Snapped at the butt end of the two piece rod at the connection, while casting. What sucked was that I had brought two rods, and first, my cheap bass pro surf reel got a failed anti-reverse. So, I switched over to the surf king and Abu. Then after several casts, snap! Double suck.

Well triple suck is that later in the evening my truck broke down. yesterday sucked

Lamiblast....... *snap, crackle, pop* My 11’ has been long gone...
Penn Prevail is the way to go for an $80 long casting casting rod.

7'6" is enough for long surf casting?

Mine snapped on a bat ray. Lamiglas low-end surf rods have poor warranties. The high-end like Ron Arra and Rogue River have good good life-time warranties but you pay much more for those, like 3x. The Insane Surf replaced the Surf King but does not have the sensitivity.

I use a kencor 12ft soft tip been using for 20 plus years still solid for surf fishing Not sure if there still being made
That pole is a beast! Big admirer of Kencor rods. All vintage now. Kenny Kawakami died in 2006 and the company folded three years later. There was a guy on Berkeley Pier who fished four Kencor poles in identical pole holders. That's two over the limit. He didn't care that he was so blatant, and sure enough, one day the DFG wardens busted him and confiscated two of those beautiful poles. A tragedy!
