I don't think the point is eliminating stripers, that is essentially impossible. Protecting them while all of our salmon populations and may other native species are endangered (for a variety of reasons) is irresponsible. While the native species populations were strong, they could handle the stress of striper predation, and they coexisted for a century. In their state, the predation makes recovery much more difficult.
