Just curious, how many of your local piers see homeless encampments by those piers or see homeless on the piers?

Balboa pier, a few tents at the foot of the pier, but ive never seen them bother anyone and seem to clean up after themselves, so to me they are not a huge problem.

The problem is our broken system that will never be fixed because the elitists dont care about poor people. Working middle class folks cant even afford a home in California. Sure, many of the homeless might be addicts or excons, but alot of them are just down on their luck and could use a hand.

Pier 7 for years was homeless sleeping point. My father still remember fight between homeless and old fishermen who had to use hook gaff to protect himself.

On a sad point I got recently notice from local guys at Crockett that parts of shoreline from Rodeo to Port Costa became homeless campgrounds, some of them has pitbulls...

A bunch of the pothead/addict skaters from the 90s became the homeless hanging around Ocean Beach pier. I use to see them as young kids.

The homeless around the Embacadero pier, in San Diego bay, behind the convention center, hang out deeper in the park. These people are mostly down on their luck.

Imperial Beach pier use to be a haven for biker gangs n methheads during the late 70s and 80s. It’s mostly cleaned up nowadays. Most problems are hidden now. Lol

I don't think Oceanside has homeless on the pier any longer, at least as far as sleeping there at night, but it's seeing other problems. The city has ratcheted up its quest for tourism money and apparently two new high rise hotels are being built at the foot of the pier and to build them the city wiped out the large parking lot that was located across the street from the pier. I hear local aren't too happy. Hard to say the long term impact on the pier.

It looks like Imperial Beach has a similar plan.

Do not be surprised - thanks Dems City Hall soon whole SF will be one big toilet... Why piers should be an exception? Viva non restricted liberalism!!! Plus huge economy on public toilets! Did you seen civilized public toilets around SF? May be on the Ocean Beach where thousands people spending recreation time? IMHO epidemics around the corner...
