I need to hit a couple of spawns this year BADLY......Damn near out of bait and I want an excuse to get a smoker

I have 2 big coolers, a cast net, and a vacuum sealer and I am not afraid to use them

The site was developed to help anglers become better anglers. Part of that was to be a place where the community of pier rats could come together and share techniques, experiences and yes, fishing recommendations (including sites). But things HAVE changed in the past 21 years both in regard to numbers and, I think, in the way many anglers abuse our fishing environments. So, I understand the hesitancy to share information on fishing spots. Nevertheless, I also feel the number of lurkers (and their impact) may be over rated given the number of people we have registered on the new board. Many sites, many sources, many, many cell phones (and one call often leads to many) but it can be a problem.

They usually spawn on under a neap tide and a low pressure weather. Today and tomorrow could be.

OK.......Broad Spectrum Info Here......If you know your stuff you can Connect the Dots.......Recent rains + King Tides = Spawns........Most likely starting Wed......I really need to get a new cast net.......The last time I hit a spawn well it kept me in bait for 5 years........LOVE MY VACUUM SEALER.......Saved the roe from the big females and gave many to friends with smokers that know how to use them and all the males got vacuum sealed and frozen.......

I have a pretty good idea of where to look but have a strange question about fishing licenses. I bought a lifetime license but have not had time to fish in a couple years. Any idea if it is only walking into a bait shop to get a current doc? In the past they printed up what folded up to be a notepad of paper for the lifetime license docs but I don't recall what I had to do to show I had paid for one

Bob, you should be able to get your license at one of the main DFG offices if you have already a lifetime license.

Guys, I was told Herring is now in, but I don't know where. Only photos are passed along to my cell phone. Can anyone confirm ?

Hi guys, first post here. I spoke with a crusty old guy at my local bait shop and he said that the area around SFO almost always has a big spawn around now, though I don't know exactly where to look. If someone here can give me an approximate location, I can check it out when I stop by the airport tomorrow.

Thanks for the response it prompted me to call the DFG office and learn I could go into any vendor with my driver's license and get a new license. I still don't understand why they don't issue a forever card or stamp for your driver's license but it is good to know they keep people in a database making it easy to renew

I left Point Richmond Pier with about 150 herrings and two ruined cast net each with about5 or 6 holes in them. Darn Sea Lions!

Go get them. Watch out the sea lions. Bring extra nets.

And THAT is why I choose not to go to Point Richmond.......Nets are not cheap
