Hermosa 7/17 & 7/19

#1
Hit Hermosa early Friday morning. I tend to fish the pier, but with the pandemic, I thought it would be prudent to stick to the surf where I could keep my distance from folks. Conditions were really nice - moderate swell, right temps, incoming tide, nice big holes that looked fishy. I was throwing 4 inch Gulp mullets on a lead head, then switched up to a drop shot, but alas, it was not to be. Nothing, nada, not even a tap. The only sign of life was a baby corbina that I spotted in the skinny water. I put on a piece of the old fish crack to see if I could save the day with a perch, and even that offering was ignored. Oh well. Packed in around 1030am when more people started to show.

On Sunday morning I hit the "finger piers" along MDR's north jetty. I was throwing gulp swimming mullets on a lead head and sort of fan casting. I managed to hook into 4 spotted bay bass in about an hour's time. Lord, are they fun to catch. All the fish were between 12-15 inches, healthy and sent back to the briny none the worse for wear. Packed it in after an hour once the parking meter ran out.

Good to be out on the water. Stay safe and tight lines!
