Help Needed

HELP NEEDED. I have posted a monthly fishing report on Pier Fishing In California (pierfishing.com) for 25 years — 305 so far. However, I have not posted a report since September and my heart operation (triple by-pass).

The problem is that I need some new reporters. I once had many more sources of information, especially bait shops on the piers, but most of those are gone. Even the number of bait and tackle shops on land continues to decrease.

That means in some cases I rely on individual reporters like Snookie who has given me monthly reports for roughly 25 years.I would like to find reporters for all or most of the piers. All it requires is a monthly note to me on about the 27-28th of the month telling what is being caught on the pier and what bait/lures are working. In addition a report on special fish, unusual or large fish is also great. In the past I sometimes sent my book out as a thank you gift but the books are now unavailable but once we decide on our merchandise for a merchandise page I will be sending our reporters some type of thank you gift. The only requirement is that you actually fish or visit the pier(s) during the month and give as accurate as possible information. You can be a reporter for the pier or a reporter for an area, i.e., piers in the Seal Beach-Long Beach area, Redondo Beach-Santa Monica area, San Francisco Peninsula, Marin County, etc. Your name will be listed as the reporter on the report. If interested send me a note at which point I can give you some additional information. Hoping to see a few of you sign up as reporters. Thanks, kenjones@pierfishing.com

Ken, as you mentioned, many Baitshop’s are closed up for good, including in the San Francisco Bay. The few hanging on are doing a good job. Many anglers have gone to frozen bait of anchovies, sardines, eel, or market shrimp; the rest of the baits are being foraged by the anglers. You can borrow from my FB page whatever you like. It is mostly photos, short videos, and I am trying to write short written reports whenever I can.
