Just checking in with our Southern and Central members, as our No Cal limit is now (2) Cali Hali in the past (2) years. So, So Cal is still (5) at 22” ? And is there actually a period of the year when it’s only (1)?

I looked through the regulations and it appears the limits are two halibut in NorCal and five halibut in SoCal. I think the closure that is mentioned only pertains to commercial fisheries.

I can't see the point of a commercial fishery with a limit of one (or even 5) fish... so I'd wager that the regs
apply to the recreational fishery.

So far I have not gotten an answer on this question from Fish and Wildlife. However, in looking at the Fish and Game regulations I do not see the one fish closure listed for the time specified. I just see the 2 fish in the north, 5 fish in the south limit. Where did the charts come from?

All I see is the following:

California Halibut

The recreational fishery for California halibut (Paralichthys californicus) remains open year-round. The daily bag and total possession limit is two fish north of Point Sur, Monterey County. The minimum size limit is 22 inches total length.

Has anyone been able to find more information that matches the charts?
