I will be trying my luck Saturday afternoon around 12-2pm at the pier. Probably won’t have a chance to stay fishing too long, regardless, I have to give it a shot! If anyone is planning on being there, let me know! I will be bringing 2 budget rods i will probably give away when im done, can’t carry them around with me all day! Hopefully i will have a good report for you guys 😉

All the best. Thinking of going 4/18-20

You can leave them at the storage place on the Mole.

You can give the rods to a store on the Green Pier.
The lady rents rods.
Good advice! I will look for the storage place since i will be carrying too much crap as usual! Thanks much!

After you pass the snack shop on the Mole, keep going to the end of the building.
Ask for Martin (the son of owner). Tell him I sent you. He knows me more by face than name, but it would not hurt.
He likes to play guitar. If you play, mention it.

Make sure to ask about the operating hours. DO not depend on the sign.

Tight lines.

Enjoy yourself! I'll miss you but I'll be there all day on Sunday! I also have an extra reservation leaving Long Beach on the 6AM and returning at the 7:45PM if anyone wants to come along. Otherwise I'll cancel the extra reservation tomorrow.

How much are the tickets? Wait, return 7:45AM the next day?

Sorry typo. 7:45PM return. Roundtrip tickets are $77. I get them in advance through AAA for $65
Didnt know about the AAA thing! Maybe next time. This was kinda last minute trip. All they had left to book was commodore lounge on the express. Hope its worth the extra $40 a ticket! $117 per person.

Did you call or book online? My experience is that they have more seats available for those who call than those who book online. Glad you'll be going there is style and hope you have an enjoyable trip!

Ahh. I think I'll have to wait. :) Fishing all day Sat, then also on Sun... Unfortunately have other things that need doing this weekend too. :)
No problem. Looks like it's just going to be me, which is also fun and meditative. Been a long time since I was there fishing by myself. I'm sure we'll get a chance to share that pier together sometime! Enjoy your weekend!

Best to check the CE website. There are different discounts.
AAA, seniors, etc..

Commodore cost includes a free drink, so if you were going to get a drink anyways, your actual cost is less.
You also get on board first. Some boats have private restroom for Commodore.

I usually come back on Commodore on the way back.

I only had about 15 mins to take a chance 😞
Chucked a coltsniper a bunch of times as far as possible to avoid that huge kelp forest, retrieve fast, slow, no go for me. Wish i had more time to fish. Beautiful weather there today though, as perfect as you could ask for.

1 guy there had a few Bonito, with 1 huge fat guy in his cooler, i would guess 5-7lbs at least. He said its been slow and sporadic. All caught on a triple set of green feathers. Good luck to you future prospectors!

Thanks for the post.

I think I know the guy/s who use the green feathers.

Hate to fight two big bonito at the same time, though.

I plan to be there April18-20, if anybody wants to join me.

I will try to make it! Things are heating up now, should be full blown Bonito frenzy in short time. Get your butts over to the island ASAP! 😆

Good deal Rusty.

I will make some green bucktail hooks.

This time on Tuesday I will try hard to hit the jetty for some poke polling. Then to Green pier for some opaleye.

Monday and Wednesday on the Mole enjoying shade from my new umbrella from Costco.
