Platform for Enhanced Marine Habitat

Orange County Coast Keeper’s “Retiring Offshore Rigs” workshop on April 21 in Newport Beach to include insight from the California State lands Commission. The Commission looks to be the front-runner in California’s offshore decommissioning derby.

On Thursday April 21 the Orange County Coast Keeper will present a daylong workshop dedicated to the offshore platform decommissioning process facing California. The event is open to the public and will feature a broad range of experts on the decommissioning process, including from the California State Lands Commission. Thanks to state-owned Platform Holly, the State lands Commission looks to have the lead role in defining and implementing an actual full platform decommissioning. Given this background, the workshop may serve as an excellent opportunity to vet plans and ambitions for constituents and stakeholders. In addition to the SLC there will be a broad range of experts from industry, government and non-governmental organizations. For workshop information: coastkeeper.org/ror

The Sportfishing Conservancy will participate in the workshop and will continue to provide a strong and consistent voice on the environmentally friendly reefing option for decommissioning.

Tight lines,

Tom
