took luningning (my boat) out to the other bay in the bay area, and got some dungy's and rock crabs in just a few hours. water was lake calm and there were dozens of small boats out. even started to warm up.

i almost ran aground since there are shallow areas here and there. when it was shallow the water was so clear i can see the sandy bottom with occasional grass as is the natural habitat of the area. I spied some schooling medium large size fish, thick shaped and dark. i could only surmise that they were stripers. I didn't have fishing gear for them though. Not really sure because the water was pretty cold maybe too cold for stripers.

almost a month later, yesterday i went trolling again off contra costa for Halibut during the incoming. several boats out there including the charter boat Predator. But it seemed slow. I used anchovy popsicles. Caught 4 shaker halibut in 4 hours... went back in before the winds. Lots of tidal bore today. Probably will have to go to the SF bay now

Hi Folks: Am wondering if the pro kayakers could summarize online the current Cal DFG's basic regulations relevant to kayak fishing, including licensing, permissible number of rods to be used, baits, "do's and don'ts" while fishing in the State's waters, etc. Thanks!

i don't know, i'm a motored kind of floating pier. i refer to CA DFG regulations when the season comes for specific fish. DFG usually comes out to check on people where the bite is hot, or if you look suspicious, or if the bank fishermen complain about something whether true or not

went out again to San Pablo bay on Sunday. Got one short halibut on frozen herring, and a foul hooked bat ray losing my XRAP. It was really slow on the incoming. Looks like I will have to go closer to the SF Bay now.

Heard the live bait is available but my floating pier is too slow to travel across the bay. Just troll popsicles and lures for now.
