Finding a way to get bit

The surf was running 7 - 10 feet along the Sonoma Coast on Friday, Nov. 6th but that was the only day that my fishin' buddy and I could get out. So we chose to fish Doran Beach - the South facing (usually dead calm) stretch that extends from the Bodega Bay jetty, curving west facing as it it gets to Pinnacle Rock. Even though this beach really does face south, we still had to contend with some strong, if small (2 - 3 foot) waves. It turned out to be a good strategy.

We caught 28 serf perch (ALL red tails) fishing most of the day through cold, high winds in the morning, giving way to a good rain shower around one p.m., giving way to warm sun and NO wind from about 2:00 pm on. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL fall day!

Truth be know, Harold out-fished me by a mile, catching 21 of our 28 fish, but I redeemed myself by bringing in the two biggest fish at 10 and 11 inches. Sorry, no pics, I left my phone in the car. Remember; you can't catch any fish unless you have a line in the water.

Thank you, Mister T! I neglected to mention that all fish were released to fight another day, and our terminal tackle was Hi/Lo rigs with Berkley Gulp sand worms (Camo)
