I still use Power Pro because its reliable, but the the slight color leaching is something to keep in mind. Suffix performance braid is splendid but I have trouble trying to get it from my local tackle store lately.

I still use Power Pro as well......But only because it is locally available........Researching online, there are A LOR of other options out there esp if you are willing to wait for up to 3 weeks for shipping. I wonder about some of the SCIENCE of these new "performance" braids.......Esp the whole 4 vs 8 strand arguement.........I have a griend in Japan (US NAVY) that fishes braid heavily.....I will see what braid HE uses

I use braid on a few of my setups. I kind of don't know the details of braid. So I don't have much to speak on. I just look at the pound test and diameter equivalency. I use Green Power Pro #80 and #60 in heavy duty light casting setups and light brown Super 8 Slick #20 on a couple of spinning setups. I also have a couple of ultra light spinning reels with braid. One has #10 red Power Pro and the other has light green Super 8 Slick #10. My ball n feather setup has #20 orange Suffix.

When it comes between regular Power Pro and Super 8 Slick, I like the Super 8 in lighter spinning applications. It just feels better to me. When it comes to heavier casting, the regular Power Pro doesn't really bother me, so I use that. As for the Suffix, it feels like something in the middle between the previous two.

I somehow always end up with used reels with zebco braid spooled half way. I give that stuff away. Perfect for macs I guess but I have so many other choices, I don't need it.

I have a friend in the US Navy stationed in Japan.....The dude has a lot of World Record fish under his belt.....He uses a lot of the Sunline 8-strand jigging line apparently.........I will have to see about giving some of it a try

What kind of records are we talking about?

I used to use suffix 832 exclusively (30lb - 65lb on low pro baitcasters), but it seems that the last couple spools I’ve gotten, the line itself had an irregular shape to it. Haven’t written it off, but I’ve been using 8 strand J-Braid and have had no complaints. Nice smooth braid at a fair price.

I buy big spools of cheap braid online from China for my girlfriends spinning setup for rockfishing. It seems very similar to the original power pro at more than half the cost. Haven’t had any line failures, and the roughness of the line helps cut through the kelp.

Yep same reason I like the roughness of regular Power Pro on my heavy duty light casting reels.

I just filled a couple of reels holding Chinese white braid but I haven’t tested them out. I don’t even know what it is. My brother gave it to me because a yellowtail almost spooled him last week and he wanted to put stronger line in his reel.

Welcome new member! To be completely honest, I haven’t changed the braid on one of my small spinners in a good 10 years. Still running 40 lb braid on a 3000 size spinner and when it starts falling apart it’s going to be backing material. Personally, I’ve only bought the braid that’s on sale, and it’s usually power pro. Works fine for me.

@Reel Newbie Thank you for the welcome. I was a member of the old board and the old-old board a long time ago. But as things go in life I got away from fishing, but now I hope to be back at it on a more regular basis.

Just a heads-up..........I have Purchased Braid from Reaction Tackle, Han Ding, and Power Pro recently, and I am most happy with the Reaction Tackle Braid. All 3 braids were soft, did not sound overly loud going through the guides, and the color did not rub off on my fingers as I tensioned the line spooling it on the reel........all things that are problems with a lot of cheap braids on the market........What I am presently doing is color coding my braids for line rating.........that way I can grab and go with a reel of the right line rating by just looking at the color of the line on it.........

The Reaction Tackle Braid was about $45 for 1500yds and comes in a wide variety of colors.......Found on Amazon
