Catalina Get Together?

#21
I have fished them from Seaside, North to Fort Stevens. Caught some real nice ones about halfway in between at Sunset Beach. Almost all beaches here catch fish...... Could not believe how cool it felt the first time I drove to the coast to fish perch and was able to drive right onto the beach. After 40 years of walking from the parking lot to get onto the sand, this was just a tad easier. You know how much ground you can cover looking for holes when you're cruising down the shoreline in a truck. Can just see me trying that at Manhattan Beach. Grubs and Berkley Gulp Sandworms work great. I did notice that using clam necks gets bigger fish than the grubs though.

Mola, Great to see a post from you. I've wondered many times how you were doing and now I have a partial answer — at least in regard to fishing. Different environment and fish than in SoCal but variety when it comes to fishing is great.

Would love to make a visit some day and learn from the master of the north. We'll see. Ken

They pretty much dive at Avalon year around.

Maybe with a thicker wetsuit. A lot of certification classes on the island. I did my second ocean dive in front of the Mole many moons ago to get certified.

Wish I could make it to the island! I haven’t wet a line in ages, and have never fished in Catalina. Just did the touristy things in the past when I was there with family or friends. Hope you all have a good trip!
