Pulled into the parking lot around 1:30 or 2pm to look at the swells. They were small, and sea was calm unlike earlier at San Clemente pier. Rigged up a rod with a swimbait and picked up my smaller tackle box that has a few lures and other tackle. By the time I walked down the path to the beach and looked out, the surf had come back with a vigor... Looked like 6 to 8 foot swells with multiple rows of breakers. Apparently I pulled into the lot during a brief lull. Only threw my swimbait about 5 or 6 times before calling it off. Just too heavy of surf to try to keep a line in the water.
