Where are Californias piers? Unfortunately the following piers have closed since this map was made 20 years ago: Redondo Sportfishing Pier, Burton Chace Park Pier, Gaviota Pier, Seacliff State Beach Pier, San Francisco Municipal, Fruitvale Bridge Pier, Dowrelio’s Pier, Miller Park Pier, Lawson’s Landing Pier, Lucas Wharf, Tides Wharf, Noyo Harbor Fishing Pier, and the Eureka Municipal Wharf. Recently the Ocean Beach Pier has closed but San Diego plans to build a new pier. Hopefully the same will happen to the Redondo Sportfishing Pier. Meanwhile Gaviota may reopen at some point.

Redondo sportfising pier was a great one. When the power plant was running, the bonito fishing was insane. I imagine it fell to pieces over time. I'm in my 60s and that old pier eventually died, I imagine. It created and groaned like it was dying then.
I'm glad I have those memories.
