Had the opportunity to fish this location. Calico Bass, sheephead, opeleye and garibaldi hitting on shrimp, peas, anchovy, and mackerel. Bass the predominant catch this trip. Nothing on squid. Windy conditions throughout the day. Had the pier to myself 95% of the time. Used high/low rig, removed one hook to minimize hang ups with structure and kelp. Had a blast catching and releasing the fish. Fun times. But it was kind of lonely not seeing other fisherman.

Question for all. As I was boarding the Catalina Express for return trip, a crew member stopped me and asked if I had any fish in my cooler. I answered him honestly and said no. He let me continue boarding. Anyone know if there are some type of regulations pertaining to bringing/carrying caught fish on board the ferry? Thank you.

I hope not since we've been bringing fish home in coolers for years. Curious that he asked the question, perhaps he was an angler just wondering what you caught?

He must be new, or as said they want to keep the coolers with fish outside. One boat does not have an outside.

If they ban fish on board, they will lose business of many anglers who come to Catalina on CE.

My cart is usually stored outside. I never argue with them. I am sort of known by the crew of various boats.
