Bolsa Chica State Beach 6/16

#1
Hi everyone!

I fished near the inlet channel yesterday from about 7:30-9:00 PM during an incoming tide with a double dropper-loop rig containing two size-6 long-shank hooks and live sand crabs with 8 lb mono and a 1 oz torpedo sinker. As I arrived, I met another angler as he was leaving who had fished the inlet channel with a silver and blue colored swimbait and caught two undersized Spotted Bay Bass and an undersized Halibut. He told me that grunion would be running that night. I caught two Yellowfin Croaker, but the issue that I found was that my hooks were too large for the sand crabs, so I'm surprised that the croaker were willing to bite. Eventually, it got too dark, and I didn't bring a flashlight or lantern, so I ended up leaving before the grunion run began.
Tips:
-Bring a wide variety of sinkers when surf fishing, depending on wind/current
-Size 6 hooks are great when using Gulp! Sandworms and Big Hammer Perch Grubs, but Size 8-10 hooks are perfect for sand crabs
-If fishing during the evening, always bring a flashlight
