Anything happening in the Monterey area?

Thanks. I should have asked the broader Monterey-Santa Cruz question. I'm not too sure if I can change my schedule now.

Waiting to hear from my grandson. I want to take him fishing and want him to catch some fish. At the Coast Guard Pier it's a little different type of fishing, not necessarily the best for him although it's true there are usually fish there. But it takes a little more finesse for some of them.

Agreed. Some work and attention to detail are important there, not to mention the many snags. Not the best for kids. But, because of the unique structure, there are always fish around....

I believe I have only fished like twice, but I agree on the snags. I am thinking of a three-way swivel with a lighter line for break-a-way on the weight. Also, perhaps some kind of float trolley rig perhaps.

I'm thinking of heading to Santa Cruz Friday and fishing SC/Capitola afternoon and evening and then heading down to Montery Saturday morning. Looks like it will just be me.
