It was many years ago. I think they were pretty much done by the end of the '60s.

Of course, and I knew George Hiner Senior and Junior well plus Kirk too. Getting bait was so much easier then.

I grew up in Seal Beach and spent my JR high to teenage years (70s) working in the bait shack each summer. I remember the tickets being blue though not orange. In the mornings the "City of Seal Beach" 1/2 day boat would come to pick up the morning anglers and we'd pull up the days loads of anchovies. No pay for working in there, just the ability to fish all day from the back side of the bait shack. Also remember the "Barge" parked out by the Federal Breakwall and the bait barges. I don't understand why they don't bring those back.
