Anyone having success with 7gill (cow) sharks in SF Bay currently?

Just wondering if anyone is fishing for them and actually catching? I am catching enough halibut to the point I want to target other gamefish. I realize shark can be fished year around (like sturgeon) but I have had the best results beginning of spring, end of summer, and early winter. Thanks for any comments or intel.

Well, looks like I derived an answer for this one. “Joe Gamez” aboard his six-pack has been getting some monstrous 7 gill at A Bouy (between Treasure Island and Alacatraz) in that fast moving water of the deep water channel.
Seems to be about right as brown smoothhounds are showing up in the Bay. Some juvenile 7gill are showing up in the flats.

Seems like 7 gills are more common now, I use to catch a lot of smoothies but now it's mostly 7 gills. Caught them at Dumbarton Pier, and all over Burlingame area.

The best spots I had were off Angel Island......We actually lost far more than we were able to bring in......whole mackerel and live small smoothhound sharks were the frequent bait
