The wife of my deceased fishing buddy Mike has been selling fishing flies through her EBay account for some time with good results. The quality is very good and her prices are far less than most stores. I told her there isn't much use of flies by pier fishermen but I have seen anglers fishing the surf for surfperch with flies. Apparently she sells a lot of saltwater flies to people in Florida. And, of course, she sells many freshwater flies. If anyone is interested, drop me a line at kenjones@pierfishing.com, I will send you her address. I've also discussed having a merchandise page with her flies being listed on such a page but I'm not sure it makes sense given the things you can already order on the Internet.

Ken, I want to take the opportunity to honor the memory of Mike Granat here whose birthday was the 28th of August.
If we (UPSAC/PFIC) ever by chance start doing events again when Berkeley Pier opens back up, I would want to hold the sturgeon derby again in December. I see why Brian Linebarger wanted to adopt this get-together as his birthday and Rich’s were both on Dec. 14th. The idea of just a holiday get-together was nice (even sans sturgeon). We hit a few nice piers in the years we did it: San Leandro Marina; Vallejo Waterfront (both of my brothers showed up with their kids); Point Pinole Pier (Ken Jones there); Dumbarton Pier; Oyster Point Pier; and finally Eckley Pier.
I kind of noticed a misplaced reference in my writing here, but it is okay! I didn’t necessarily mean hold a sturgeon event at Berkeley Pier in December. More like starting back events with the commencement of its opening. But, actually not a bad idea to have a sturgeon derby there (and 7 gill) right before the sturgeon closure (utilizing some herring). Bob (StripedSideChaser) Griffin and I used to meet at the end and Bob would make some hot things to eat (like chili) as we fished in the cold during the holiday break!
