Anyone gone to Manhattan Beach Pier lately?

I'm planning to head out to Manhattan Beach Pier this coming Saturday. Has anyone gone there lately?

This is not a pier that I venture to often.

Any specific species that tend to inhabit this pier more than others? I'm having difficulties deciding where to fish--surf area, middle, or end.

I was hoping to try and learn to fish with a jig head / gulp. (Not sure if I will be successful.) I will bring sabiki has a back up. (I try to avoid use these nowadays.)

Any tips or feedback is appreciated.

Sharks, maybe halibut and mackerel.

Ended up fishing towards the end (north side) due to low tide majority of the day. Started around 3 PM and ended at roughly 8 PM. (High tide at Estimated 07:30 PM.)

Did not see many people fishing from surf to middle of the pier. (This pier is surprisingly rather small and has one sink station.)

Ended up taking home a total of 16 fish (between my GF and I). 14 Mackerel and 2 Bonito.

A majority of mackerel being caught were small to medium size. (There were a few fairly larger size ones.) A majority of Mackerel were caught by my GF using Sabiki (without bait). I caught 2 bonito. One using a 0.5 oz cheap eagle claw round jig head with gulp smelt and another using a 1 oz (too big of a hook 4/0?) bullet looking jig head with power bait. Due to the low tide I was having difficulties feeling bottom with the jig heads so I decided to fish them as I would with a Sabiki with multiple strong jerks keeping the jig head on top water. My special technique. ;)

Lots of people catching mackerel!
