17th Annual Diamond Classic C&R Sturgeon Derby 1/27

• Had a great time with old friends (some from PFIC) fishing in Pittsburg Ca. We fished at the downtown pier area today (next year will be at Riverview Park, Pittsburg). PFIC/UPSAC started the pier contingency some (11) years ago at Martinez Pier and I have not missed a year!
• The boaters have a competition for a slot sturgeon and split part of the buy-in with this year’s first prize $1750 (past years it has been as high as $2500). I helped out with the kids on the pier that weren’t able to get a free trip on the charters that sponsor the event, like Steve Talmadge from “Flash Fishing.” I helped along with Hans Jones and Dave and Doug Shigematsu from PFIC. Art from Art’s Custom Sliders helped as well.
• (17) placing sturgeon for the boaters in the slot limit and small stripers and bullheads for the kids from the pier.

Post dedicated to the memory of Keith Fraser of Loch Lomond Bait, San Rafael Ca. Keith aka The Lord of the Sea, aka The Sturgeon General passed away in this last week, Rest In Peace. (Last photo on the bottom).
