    5/6 Embarcadero pier

Got back from work and headed out at 4am to embarcadero to catch some mackerel. Only 2 people there when I showed up, bait in water boiling from school of baby baracudas chasing them around some decent size mixed in couldn't get them to bite only chase. Caught 7 mackerel on mackerel for bait on...

    Embarcadero pier 4/23

Hit the pier in the AM, 6am was a bit late for the high tide, got around 5 mackerel. Came back in afternoon from maybe 4-7 and landed another 8 mackerel fairly slow. Using mackerel for bait, on a bobber rig with about 6ft of leader egg weight and hook to sink it as the drift is very fast.

    Shelter island 3/12

Stopped by the pier after the rain to try and catch some mackerel. Ideally was planning to use my ghost shrimp but wind was too strong. Threw a sabiki and first cast instant bite into 3 more then it slowed. Set up another rod and sabiki tangled with 3 macks and that was it. Not a bad day of...

Interesting Live Bait Set-up At Seal Beach

The one I have is from anglers choice for 100$, the original hoop ring is too heavy so I swapped for a lighter one. At the lb fred hall there was nets at turners for really cheap but I didn;t want to haul with me. I also swapped out the rope 3 way for 100lb mono crimped to create less...

Interesting Live Bait Set-up At Seal Beach

That is neat, I never seen anyone use an actual pulley on the net. I also found out that the cheapest bread you could buy is white bread from food4less, walmart is ok but you want clearance bread that is about to expire. At food4less they cost about 1.40 cents each bag and when on clearance just...

    1/27 Imperial Beach pier

They were from the king tides in december the local commercial lobster fishermen didn't remove his traps in time or didn't care and thats how they ended up there. There was also a yellow weather buoy that washed to the front of the back of the pier but has been removed since maybe 3 weeks ago by...

    1/27 Imperial Beach pier

Yesterday went to the pier looking to catch something, bait was scarce as the wind was low until it went 22mph so I called it a day. When walking up I noted to take photos of the current buoys stuck on the pilings near the surf zone and here are the photos. There are a lot of traps stuck under...

    4/19 imperial beach pier

Fish was released, very small wound as it wasn’t a target species and I have no net. Tried to give it the smallest wound possible, it swam off fine. 5 planks long I will try to measure it today. That gaff shot is the only one near its tail
