It is so sad indeed. I love these bait-n-tackle shops. Love Gus's in SF as well. I used to live within a few blocks so visited there just to chat up. Johnny's sport shop in Pasadena is dangerously close to the Eaton Fire. I checked in with them and relieved to learn they survived all right.

In socal, I have really not seen any white seaperch so I am not sure. Mr. Skipper Jones is the best bet to ask more on this I feel.

Some fish like to feed during the slack tide. One species I know is moray eel.

I saw some sold at local fish market in NE Los Angeles a while back. I have not cooked them so not input to help here.

It appears neither. It does not have the rubberlip of a rubberlip. it does not have the black stripe of a pile perch. I thought of white seaperch but my guess stop here. How large was it?
