Two Harbors Planning

I plan to go to Two Harbors for my spring break from March 24-26, and have already booked the campsite and a seat on the ferry. Although I have gone several times, I spent most of my time/effort fishing for the leopard sharks in Cat harbor, and rarely focused on catching anything else. Given that I am going early in the year, that may not be an option as the spawning aggregation is several months away in the summer. Does anybody have any advice for fishing the harbor? I remember on the old message board there were a couple posts with some fish pictures, but I don't recall any specific riggings/baits. One big problem I would like to avoid is the ever-present carpet of round rays that will pounce on any bait smaller than half a mackerel (and sometimes even that doesn't stop them).

Not really experience, but I was thinking if you caught a round ray, cut it up and fly lined it out would it keep the other rays away and attract some sharks? Seen some videos of guys in Florida doing that and catching goliath grouper and sharks.

I've heard of shark fishermen in Southern California using rays as cut bait, but that is usually for sevengills or (god forbid) whites, both of which are not present in the harbor as far as I am aware.

Artificial lures and live bait perhaps will cut down on the round stingrays.
