Pier 30 SF

Long time member of the forums before it switched out and never registered.

Curious has anyone fished Pier 30 in San Francisco before? Tried looking for reports on the web and forum with no luck. Checked it out recently and saw potential as the water is pretty deep.

The dock where Red’s Java House is. It’s not an official fishing pier and now it’s closed sometimes when they sell parking for ball games.
Yeah, there’s fish there. The front is very swift! People fish off the right. Off the front, some put their rods down flat on the deck and suspend bait (maybe 20-30 feet down).

Leopard shark, halibut. Some jig for baitfish in close on the right and behind Red’s.

A lot of perch right under the pilings. Some rock fish too. Good action if you are waiting for the big hali or striper with live bait.

I only fished it a couple of times back about 15 years ago. I fished inshore or around the pilings with pileworms and caught perch and small (mainly brown) rockfish.
