I like the Old School Lamiglass and Fenwick Surf Blanks
I have a 9' Old School Lamiglas in the garage. It doesn't fit in the house. Dont think I have a Fenwick surf rod. I DO have a few old Fenwicks in different configurations though.

They are a little pricey to me also, but with the discount I can get its hard to pass up.
A few years ago at the Fred Hall show, I found some UC and old Graphite USA blanks in a clearance bin. Names scratched out but I could still see the logo and model numbers. Nothing wrong with them. Pulled on them too. I believe they thought UC was going under at that time. We went to town on those things at $20 a pop.

The previous owner was a great blank designer, but not a great business man. The company was going down and the blanks started to suffer as they cut corners. Randy Penny one of the head guys at seeker bought the company and turned it back around. Pricewise a bit of overkill for surf and shore, but great blanks.

Man o man. I’d say pace yourself but you can’t really do that with the two matching rods. I was upset buying 2 watch straps on amazon for $30 yesterday. Lol

Do you have Michael’s arts n craft stores up there? A lot of “turned” fishing equipment can be got there. Here, the wooden eggs are almost always gone because the bonito fishermen use them to cast their feathers. I use the wooden doll heads as a weighted float to cast tiny live bait with my bigger penn reels. Bracelet beads can be used to protect your knots from sliding weights. Lol There are a whole lot of goodies in there.

Those styrofoam cones make a very good bobber that doesn’t cause as much drag as the big round ones when you cast. A4DAC889-43E1-4D2E-B49B-8B9C5EE76F5E.jpeg
