Blood Pressure

I try to convince myself that casting is cardio :p

I need to start doing more shore fishing in places you have to hike to. Or start kayak fishing, etc., to really make a difference in my weight. But the stress component of high blood pressure can definitely be helped some by the peace and joy of angling.

My blood pressure skyrocketed when I was married and my ex did not like fishing. During a 10 year hiatus from fishing (length of the marriage) my overall health declined.

I'm remarried and my wife completely enjoys pier fishing. My physical health is 100 percent better.

Whatever the correlation is - I'm sure there are many quips that members can think of! All I have to say is "I'm back baby, love my pier fishing"!!!

I recently joined the circle and am on a med now. It is a new game that I am learning to play at. Reading up (albeit a bit late) this thread gave me a hope. I will be keep testing this hypothesis by well, going to more fishing!

Getting ready to come to Orange County/LA this Sunday -Tuesday and hoping to hit a few piers — and of course my trip to the Cardiac doctor this week showed a high blood pressure reading (highest for a while). Perhaps not fishing for several months has hurt it?
I will make sure I take my meds with me.

Good point. I gotta get on my feet. Most places up here on the Snake require a hike. Mrs. Moonshine has been egging me to do more walking. Maybe PFIC could include the steps to the end of each pier 🙂

Ken, I'm going to follow your idea and take my cuff on my next trip.

I was amazed how many sites (even the non-fishing ones) promote fishing for health reasons.
