The San Clemente Pier has seen an influx of Selachians lately. Joining the normal resident species—smoothhounds, leopard sharks and threshers—have been a number of cousin species—horn sharks, swell sharks, 7-gills (two) and angel sharks. Reports also indicated that one of the largest shovelnose sharks (guitarfish) ever seen at the pier was recently taken, a fish reported at 66 inches (although my record book says they only reach 61 1/2 inches in length).
