What often happens is that people will rsvp in their reply to the original thread. Then, whoever started the thread will go back and edit his/her original message and keep adding to the list of attendees. That way the attendee list is always at the beginning of the thread.
Just a suggestion. I've seen this work on GetBentSportfishing for charters and on ScSurffishing for their fish-offs.
