| Description: | We are proud to be hosting a Kid's Fishing Derby at Berkeley Pier, co-sponsored by IGFA. This should be a great time & hopefully get some kids hooked on fishing.
What: Kid's Fishing Derby
Where: Berkeley Pier - 100 Seawall Drive at the 1st cleaning station next to bathrooms
Date: 08/06/2011
Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
Open to young anglers 6-15. There will be individual categories for each age range as well as individual certificates for the winners. There will also be prizes!!
Stay tuned for more details & rules as we get closer. We are also going to need help with the derby. We need volunteers to cut bait & rig the poles both to start with and throughout the day, as well as judges. Please PM SofaKing or myself if you can help.
Let's make this a great experience for the kids!!

I am really enthused about this event. After expressing interest in adding a S.F. Bay Area kids derby to the president of the IGFA a few years back at the San Diego kids derby, it's finally happening! It is an honor and a privilege to have a derby in the bay co-sponsored by the International Game Fishing Association. I urge anyone with any young ones that enjoy fishing to come on out and join the festivities. I am going to try and get my nieces and nephew to join in this event if they are available on the date as Berkeley is the pier where I got my start and developed my love for fishing and the great outdoors.

Good show for all who attended! Dave, your participation brought energy to the event... A tough season for the kid's to fish at BP but thankfully they were able to catch some smelt and surprisingly, a black perch was caught by one..
