If there are surfers, they would not be in the deep end of the pier.

Then again perch would be the best possible fish to go after.

Perch would be in the surf side.

Guys, I am not saying there can't be problems, but I've been fishing the pier since the '60s and personally have never had a single problem. I haven't been there since last year but seriously doubt there will be any problems.

If a problem appears to be developing we will not hesitate contacting the authorities nor hesitate to publicize any unsafe conditions.

You guys will be ok. It is the daytime and Huntington is safe. Just remember there is safety in numbers. I just think this surfer vs fishermen thing has escalated in the past few years. I have never heard of any problems to this extent before.

Due to the construction, the only fish-able areas will be closer to the mid and end sections anyway.

I'm not concerned about the surfers... it's the recent lack of fish that I fear. The last 2 times I've gone there it hasn't been productive.

Of course, I say that and watch... someone will catch a 125 lb thresher tomorrow...LOL

Unfortunately, I have a weekly meeting that runs every Saturday morning from 8:45am to 11:45am.

However, I can probably show up before the event is over (by 1pm).

I'd like to make my contribution to UPSAC and would love to fish with the crew for a few hours afterwards.

Hi Eugene

What bait are you guys are providing? Any live bait or ghost shrimp? Or no bait (except shrimp) like last time at Redondo Sportfishing Pier.

We'll try to have some ghost shrimp and frozen anchovies.
