What Bait seems to be pulling up the most crab. I've been using chicken in a trap and squid in the snares. Caught a few keepers but wondering if anyone has had other luck.

Thanks

chicken always seems to work for me. I buy the 4lb prefrozen bags of drumsticks from safeway. They're like $4 a bag.

Gym socks always work for me, the funk and and stank that is coming out of that sock just draws them in like crazy, of course the by-product is that there will be a couple floating fishes and surfers belly up....

I was using fish heads on wed and it seemed to work pretty well... Lots of crab but only a few keepers.

squid and any oily fish should work, and fresh bait usually produces more for me than those that are thawed and refrozen many times from the fishing trips.

I have never had much luck with chicken. I have tried it a few times, and I know some people swear by it, but it has just never worked for me. I usually get a couple of large Macs from 99 Ranch Market and slice them down the belly then put them in the bait cage. Works like a charm.

The locals tend to use a combination of squid + sardines.

I personally like to use the combo of squid and sardines or chovy.
