So ditto what the rest said, awesome trip hottie girl,,,,

but what I really want to know is, who else thinks that is a baby WSB?

That would be a cool catch, lost my only WSB I've hooked to the kelp beds of capitola.

Dude, that's how they get you into marriage. Now, tell me, Pat... when was the last time you and your wife went fishing together for sake of fishing? That's what I thought... Smile

You used to post reports every weekend too... Then you had a kid. Whats the lesson here? Life doesn't end after marrage, just fishing?

It's already been said but worth repeating—nice report and good pictures. And, that's my kind of trip although I'm usually just hitting the piers not the rocks.

A couple of things—

1. You experienced the "slow" San Simeon which, unfortunately, happens more than the "hot action" San Simeon. It's a pier than be be really good or really bad.

2. The second small croaker you were catching at Newport were queenfish (usually called herring in SoCal), a cousin of white croaker (usually called tomcod in SoCal, kingfish further north). Traditionally queenfish and white croaker have ranked in the top five of fish caught from SoCal piers as far as straight numbers.

Hope your fishing and applications go well.

Great trip! Combining fishing, gf and interview - great idea. And a cute gf who fishes, that's a rarity (and a good catch). I think I've been fishing maybe 3 times with my wife?

Salty.

guess I'm one of the lucky ones. The wife loves to go fishing with me. last 2 years on mother's day she asked me to take her fishing!!!! anyday we are both off and have nothing to do she will almost always suggest fishing too.

Nice report and pics! Yeah, I hear you on how frustrating rockfishing can be...but I love it anyway.

nice report, I enjoyed reading it.... reading the replies from others whose wifes or gfs dont fish with them is terrible. My gf goes with me almost everytime I go, sometimes she leaves a little bit early to come home. Not so much anymore cuz I tend to stay out till the wee hrs of the morning. But if she didnt fish with me, I dont know what Id do... Thats awesome that your girl goes with you and enjoys it.

thanks all, for your kind words... i am planning on fishing as much as i can, before i get dragged into the hectic life of a grad school student, so i will try to keep posting reports when possible.

surf sam - actually, my gf DID pull up a humuhumu! it fought really hard for having such little fins LOL.

sincoast - too bad your wife doesn't enjoy fishing with you anymore, but at least you are allowed to go out to catch all the fish you always do! i realize my gf probably wont be fishing with me like this forever, but i am sure enjoying it while it lasts! =)

ken - thanks for the queenfish ID... i was hoping it would be something less common, but i am still happy to have caught a new species on my list.
