One of the best around. Just think if a video like this was done for every pier in California and was posted to be seen. I could stay up all night watching all of them.

After seeing it you realize how much "Stuff" collects under a pier.

It's awesome, yet sobering. Makes me wish I knew how to scuba dive so I could get under there and clean up the junk left behind by beach-goers and fishermen.

well lets not be too hasty in judging. as the narrator said, the "stuff" that collects can be beneficial - the surrounding ocean floor is barren except for the areas where "stuff" accumulates by the pier. the problem is the deadly "stuff" that kills wildlife.

Man, this was a great video. Like Bat-Ray-Dave said, I could watch hours of videos about what lies underneath our favorite piers. There looks to be so much life underneath that pier, as well as a lot of garbage...but what is garbage to us is evidently home to a lot of fish!

I couldn't agree more ... you couldn't pry me away! For some time now I have been encouraging local divers to work with the Goleta Pier Angler Center to provide video of the various habitats here.

Imagine a video that referenced markers on the Pier to show the corresponding underwater areas! I bet it could be marketed and provide lots of funding for UPSAC activities.

How many here would pony up $20 or so for an underwater video of their favorite pier?

I have the diving gear and the certification.

What I do not have is the video equipment, time and permission to dive at the piers.

Something to work on in the future. The gauntlet has been thrown.

Wonder if we could find a diver willing to do a select number of piers in different parts of the state? Or different divers in different parts of the state?
