I'm thinking about buying an Abu Garcia cardinal 807I for about $65 brand new in a box. I was told this reel is the same as the Soron 70, which retails for $150. I was told Abu Garcia discontinued the 807I series and rename it SORON, which has some good reviews.

What do guys think? Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

I've had a cardinal for quite some time now. Mine is the cardinal 1203 model i baught it brand new and it has been a great reel for me its still in great working condition I take it apart n grease it every year. I use baitcast reels now and havnt baught any spinning reels in a while. But hey it may be worth it.

I read around that the 800 series was better than the Soron, although the Soron is a good reel. And then I also read there were disreputable dealers selling unrefined 800 reels on the internet for very low prices.

I decided to go ahead and buy the reel after all. I just could not resist the $53 price for a brand new one, shipping included. It arrived a few days ago and I have to say I was impressed with the quality.

I can't wait to try it out.
