i tried to use a hair razor on my set up, but found out it was wayyyy to heavy.

A guy suggested a 6 ft pole with a small reel. At the time i had my shimano baitrunner 6500B with 17 lb p line on a 9 1/2 ft pole.

Can you pelase suggest what pole and reel i need to jig for stripers, halibuts and rock fish?

I would get a size 4000 Daiwa Coastal Inshore Spinning Reels. $140

Or maybe a Shimano Spheros SP4000FB if above is too expensive.

Or a Daiwa BG15 if above is too expensive and you don't care about casting far far.

so these 13oz reels are light and can handle those fish. then if its still heavy you can change your pole but that depends on your fishing method, area, and target species

Lure Pole? Is that anything like a "Stimulus Package"?

Seriously, what's your budget? You can start up with a 6.5ft 2 piece Ugly Stick for $30 up to a 1 piece 7' G.Loomis for $300.

How big of a Hair Raiser? 3/8oz or 2oz?

Where abouts are you fishing? Bay, Surf, etc?

I like to pitch lures with a 1 piece Med action 7' Shimano casting pole, teamed up with a low profile bait casting reel that holds around 120yds of 12# line. I use this to throw hair raisers as small as 1/4 oz up to 1/2 oz. I also have that same 7' pole in a Med/Hvy range.

I also have a 2 piece Med/Hvy Lamiglass 8.5ft. I throw up to a 1 oz hair raiser or kastmaster, teamed up with my 5600 - 6500 Abu Garcia round reels.

Spinning Rods match up similarly, 7' 1 piece rods or 2 pcs 8.5' rods, with a shimano 4000 series reel (Sedona or Symetre). You can get away with a 2500 shimano reel, I just like the extra line capacity and the ability to use it when I rock hop the jetties.

Good luck with your choices. I did see someone selling a curado in the off topic pages.

Look into a steelhead rod. There are some good ones out there, and they're not always that expensive. I have a few 9 ft steelhead rods that I use for surf fishing down here in SoCal, and I can toss a lure a very long distance with them. In fact, I've tossed hair raisers, but they don't seem to work that well down here.

Word up, Ex.. look into the Steelie rods.. its just like a long bass rod. Snag up a 8'6" med/medheav... look at Ugly Stik, and a few other brands.. pick up a US REEL spinning reel, itll spank out there for anything from Perch to Rockfish, and you can use it on halis stripers, all of it.

id stay away from Daiwa personally... aside from DaiwaJapan, everything ive used from em is a peice.

Banger from the Militia can tell ya more about the US REEL.. definately a good investment, i want one myself!
