Went out to Pacifica Pier today. Lot's of salmon being caught off the end of the pier sliding an anchovy down the zip line. Wall to wall fishermen and lots of tangles and tempers flaring.

Given that, you might have some good luck out there with the Salmon.

I tried briefly but didn't have one of those spiky weights that hold the bottom. If you don't have one of those, just forget it. Your line will drift and cross everyone over and a tangled nightmare.

The Kingfish are hitting as well. I took home a limit on those and they are in the dutch oven simmering away with red onion (from the garden of course!) fresh lemon, a pitch of cumin, fresh cilantro.

Anchovies were also available for the fishermen with Sabiki.

Good time out there if you can battle the crowds.

I was there last week and "tangle nightmare" is an understatement. Gave up on salmon and got easy limits of kingfish for 2. The anchovies were really fat. Splash of the day was when a big airborne shark chomped on someone's salmon.

Looking back at 7pm on a weekday.

Attach a spider weight to your line, and then after use a "siliding bobber rig" or you can even search here on the forums or on google for "Pacifica pier bobber rig"

Thanks. I heard that the water there is about 30 to 50 feet deep. How do I control the depth with a bobber ? Don't we need to fish the entire water column for Salmon?

I was thinking of staying overnight after the Marin Rod and Gun Club's kid derby and heading over to Pacifica. Unfortunately I had to head back to Fresno but at least it sounds like I didn't miss too much at Pacifica.

Visited the pier this past weekend - no salmon, too quiet = less crowd.

A salmon in a bucket. What a way to preserve the prized catch.
